Ensuring quality and safety in Non-Pharmacological Interventions: The role of practitioner certification in France

Abstract : Non-Pharmacological Interventions society (NPIS) have gained popularity as viable complementary to conventional treatments. This poster investigates the necessity of certifying NPI practitioners to guarantee service quality and safety in France. By examining international practices and literature, we propose a framework for effective certification criteria, emphasizing identity verification, activity declaration, clean criminal record, and appropriate diplomas/certifications. Our analysis underscores the impact of certification on patient trust and the continuous professional development of practitioners. 1|Quentin Aoustin | QANOPEE HUMAN EXPERIENCE|Science...

Do multimodal approaches support Alzheimer’s patients with declining autonomy?

The robustness and precision of memory consolidation increase when learning occurs in a multimodal or multisensory context. Existing studies on healthy populations, spanning both the young and elderly, provide substantial evidence that an environment offering simultaneous stimulations across diverse sensory modalities can amplify memory retention. However, limited data address the applicability of this concept to patients with neurodegenerative disorders, who often show a decline in autonomy as the disease advances. In the early phases of neurodegenerative diseases, the neural networks...

Pragmatism in manual therapies and psychotherapies : a systematic review

Introduction : Pragmatic trials aim to directly inform about the effectiveness of clinical practices by increasing the comparability between the trials conditions and real-life. Even though the concept of pragmatism has long existed, it remains a minority in clinical trials, even more so in manual therapies. However, pragmatism seems to fit with therapies that assess complex constructs as mental states and somatic dysfunctions. Methods : A systematic literature review was performed in November 2021 on online databases, including PubMed, about...

Dance-therapy as a non-pharmacological intervention for chronic pain in adolescents

Fear of pain and movement are currently observed (“Kinesophobia”) in chronic pain, which can have very harmful consequences on the patient’s overall quality of life and psychological state. Adolescents’ heightened sensitivity to anxiety is a major risk factor for movement avoidance in cases of chronic pain. Proposals made to adolescents in the management of their chronic pain are actually scarce. Pharmacological solutions are very limited, and non-pharmacological techniques are not very effective and poorly followed up because considered as boring...

An innovative music therapy approach for pain management in patients with cancer

Background: Patients with advanced cancer often experience disease- and treatment-related pain. Previous studies have shown that music therapy can help manage pain. We evaluated the effects of an innovative approach of music therapy on pain in patients with advanced cancer. This new approach uses music intervention, performed by a trained music therapist, to induce relaxation in patients, allowing for real-time patient management and tailored sessions. Methods: This prospective, monocentric study included patients with advanced cancer and a pain score ≥3...

Digital phenotyping of agency for healthcare applications

Digital and mobile health technologies are receiving growing attention in various healthcare domains, including mental health (1,2). Digital phenotyping, the analysis of user interactions with digital devices to profile behaviors, is emerging as a promising tool for clinical applications in mental health. By generating digital signatures of pathologies and patient profiles, it offers an avenue beyond relying solely on subjective patient reports (3,4). Subjective reports generally consist of psychometric scales evaluating behaviors. Here we hypothesize that digital data can be...
