Biography

Kim Lavoie is a professor and Canada Research Chair in Behavioural Medicine at the Université du Québec à Montréal. She is co-director of the Montreal Centre for Behavioural Medicine (CMMC) and co-director of the International Behavioural Trials Network (IBTN). She is internationally recognised for her research into chronic disease prevention (particularly heart, lung and metabolic diseases) and the impact of behavioural interventions, such as motivational communication, on health behaviours and chronic disease outcomes. She has received over $75 million in grants and has published over 250 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters. Dr. Lavoie is also the principal investigator of the international iCARE study, which assesses population attitudes and adherence to infectious disease prevention measures, including vaccination. She is also a member of Canada’s COVID-19 national expert advisory group, where she has been advising the government on pandemic and vaccine policy since 2021.
